Durga puja celebrations at Ranchi
Urmila Dhengra, a member of Nari Samiti, which is behind the puja, said: “We wanted to do something on our own. So we formed a committee. We decided to celebrate Durga puja and that’s how it all began.”
The scale of the puja is a reflection of the economic hardships faced by, for many years the mascot of the city. “Earlier, we used to have a huge idol. But the decline in condition changed all that mean fully support ladies.
Head of the organising committee Sabita Rai said: “We used to organise cultural programmes. We are organising a aarti competition. We are fortunate enough to get the support of the people. Without them, we could not have been able to continue.”
The men fully support the ladies in their efforts. “This kind of puja is unique. Organising a Durga puja needs real hard work. These women must be congratulated for their efforts. We stay away from their affairs but whenever they need any help, we readily pitch in.”
From going around houses for subscriptions to planning the puja and executing it, the women do everything.
“We do not stress much on the construction of pandals. We organise the puja in a simple way. Apart from the priest, there is no male member in the puja. The committee consists of over 70 women and the number keeps on increasing,
And there were many people who help each other and they make community in durga puja and contribute money to make panda and make the idol of Maa durga.
And they make pandal which safe for our environment and surrounding which help to protect form global warming
